Baby Shower!

I am so excited to share these! My friend Lisa helped me plan my baby shower earlier this month. I have a bunch of talented friends and so I pooled them all together and put them to work!

Event Planner: Lisa with Bellissima Vita
Photography: John and Jane Cosner with Cosner Photography
Invitation Design: Sara with Stinkerpants Designs
Flowers and Decor: Me - Huckleberry Karen Designs

A very special thank you to the Cosners for taking the time out of their busy weekend to take these gorgeous pictures. Get ready for some eye candy!!

Shower invites designed by Sara from Stinkerpants Designs.
Sara was also kind enough to give me these illustrations so I can make favor tags, shower games, signs and thank you notes !

Lisa surprised me with a "wish tree" where my friends and family
were able to send "wishes" to the baby. It was so much fun to read them!

My niece wrote this one - I love it!

And of course a very sweet note from soon to be Grandma Burling.

Dahlias and wheatgrass - a lovely combo!
I made diaper cakes for each of the tables. The best part is I have enough diapers
for the baby when he arrives!

Here's a picture of me and my sister Sherry. She helped with the yummy food!

And some pictures of the details...because the details is where the love is :)

The delicious cheesecake
Booties my friend made for the baby.

My friend Nicole made folders for the shower games. Talk about being super organized! She even added the cute little hippo and birdie from the invite :)

And of course there were MANY presents for baby. He's a very lucky baby
to have all of these people love him so much!

Uncle Brian decided to crash the baby shower.
The one present that Ben opened - a Diaper Dude Bag!

I don't know why I am laughing but everything is very funny (or very sad) these days. Something to do with hormones, you think?

Popo (Grandma in Chinese) hanging out

Parenting caught on film. Julie is telling Chris why it's not a good idea to be picking his nose in public. Gong gong (Grandpa in Chinese) is being supportive.

Baby Burling's aunts and cousins!

Ben is practicing his parenting skills.

The face I will make when the baby makes a pee pee in the toilet for the first time

Thanks everyone for such a special baby shower!

Things Made From Scratch

I have a lot of crafty and talented people in my life. I didn't realize this until the baby shower! So many of my family and friends sew, knit, crochet, scrapbook and I reaped the benefits last weekend! Baby Burling has so many beautiful things made with love - it's crazy!

Check out ALL of the things I received that were hand made.
Also known as "made from scratch!"

My friend Sara sewed this super cute bunny for baby

Cynthia knit and felted these little booties

Cynthia also made this cute blanket. Perfect for "tummy time"!
Blankets my mom made for the baby

My mom got really fancy with this one!

My sister Sherry went crazy with the knitting needles.
She made this cute teddy bear AND the sweater it's wearing.

I love this hippo!!

Little booties to keep baby's feet warm in the winter

Sherry also knit these super cute caps for the baby to keep his head warm.
I love this one!

One for baby when he's a little older

The one I will treasure the most is the blanket that my nieces made for their cousin. Sarah, Amy, Katie, and Emily (with the help of my sister Sherry) made this adorable "monster quilt"

Sarah's Dragon Block

Emily's monster with the heart.

Katie's Monster with eylelashes (hard to see them but they're there!)

Amy's monster with the crazy teeth. I hope baby doesn't have teeth like that.

As you can see - Baby Burling is a VERY LUCKY baby to have all of this stuff made from scratch!

Meet My Very Own Pedicurist

This is a warning. You will think Ben is the kindest and best husband around after this blog post. Whatever you do - don't tell him how great he is cause his ego will be difficult to manage afterward....

So last week was a busy week with my family visiting and having the baby shower. My plan was to get a pedicure with my mom but it never happened. I realized this about an hour before I had to leave for the baby shower. My toes have not seen the light of day in months. I can't reach them so they don't get any attention and they were pretty tore up. I was planning to wear sandals to the baby shower so something had to be done.

So I asked Ben to help me. And because he is such a wonderful husband - he did.

Meet my pedicurist:

First he removed my nail polish

Then he clipped my toenails. He made a comment about how thick my toenails are.
It's one of the charming Chang traits I inherited from my parents. According to my brother in law we should let NASA take a look at our toes to help build the next space shuttle.

The he diligently filed my toenails
I think Ben secretly enjoyed this because he embraced his new job wholeheartedly.
He started "pedicure talk" with me.

"You no work today?"
"You have boyfriend?"
"You going to have baby soon?"
"You have a boy or girl?
"Your baby will look like movie star."

He drew the line at painting them so I had to that myself.
But I think the "Husband of the Year" award goes to Benjie!
